Each of the twelve Chinese year animals has a different personality and different characteristics. The animal is believed to be the main factor in each person's life that gives them their traits, success, and happiness in their lifetime.

According to Chinese astronomy, the destiny of a person can be determined by the position of the major planets at the time of person's birth along with the positions of the Sun, Moon and comets and Zodiac Sign. This laborious system of computing one's fate and destiny based on one's birthday and birth hours is known as Zi Wei Dou Shu. This system is still used in modern day Chinese astrology to divine one's fortune.

Apart from the astrological readings of the heavenly bodies, the stars in the sky form the basis of many fairy tales. To understand Chinese Astrology it is important that you first know about the twelve Chinese animal signs and the five basic elements.
