Diwali or the ‘Festivals of Lights’ is celebrated with its traditional pomp and splendor in India and Nepal each year. The festival marks the auspicious day of victory of good over evil. It is commemoration of the day, when Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile, and also defeating the demon ruler Ravana of Lanka. The traditional ethos associated with this festival makes it a much awaited event. Gambling or playing Taash on Diwali night is also one of the popular activities indulged in by the individuals, which is considered to be a good omen. People prefer to wear new clothes and buy new jewelry and adorn it to celebrate the festival of Diwali.

Homes and offices are lighted by light wires, candles or even the traditional diyas. The significance of lighting in this festival is to ward off the evil dark from our lives. Children and adults alike indulge in burning fire-crackers to enjoy Diwali irrespective of their religion barrier.
