All the ceremonies and rituals are centered on the feeling of pain and humiliation that Jesus undergone for goodness and cause of humanity. Thus is known as Good Friday as Christians believe that Jesus sacrificed his life for good of everyone.
For the adoration of believers on Good Friday, a plank of wood, representing the cross on which Christ was crucified is displayed in churches. One by one, people come and kiss it and it follows from noon to 3 o'clock. Also narratives from the four Gospels are read out. Meditation and prayers form part of this ceremony and it continues for three hours. After this a general communion service is followed at midnight. On this day, some mourners wearing black and holding an image of Christ move in procession, and a ceremonial burial takes place. On Good Friday, a day of prayer and penance, the bells of the churches remain silent and there are no flowers and decorations. On Easter Sunday people eat hot buns which have a cross shape on their top.
