There is a difference in the celebration date of the Rabi' al-awwal. Shia Muslims celebrate this day on the 17th of Rabi' al-awwal which is the third month. This is because it coincides with the birth date of sixth Imam, Ja’far al-Sadiq. The Sunni Muslims however celebrate the occasion on the 12th of the month. All Muslim countries celebrate this occasion with great fervour and joy. Also, other countries with Muslim presence also have great celebrations. India is amongst the most-noted non-Muslim countries which can brag of splendid celebrations.
The way of celebration of Eid Milad-un-Nabi is completely splendid and joyous. Parades and carnivals are seen in the streets. Mosques and homes are decorated and processions take place in the streets. Charity is done and foods are distributed to the poor. History is also narrated in way of stories and also recitation of poetry is done by children.
